About Me!
Layla McRae is a dancer, choreographer, and educator originally from Central Florida. She began her training at Joanne’s Dance Center in 2014 and later attended the Osceola County School for the Arts. These early years helped her develop a strong foundation in ballet, modern, contemporary, musical theater, and choreography.
After relocating to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Layla continued her studies at the Pagosa Springs Dance Academy, where she also taught pre-ballet and contemporary classes and presented several original choreographic works.
Layla earned her BFA in Dance from Colorado State University, where she performed extensively and choreographed original pieces including Phrenophobia, Arcturus, and Raw Existence. In 2023, she joined the Denver-based company Authentic: Grooves, first as an administrative intern and later as a dance apprentice. She studied abroad in Ghana and Italy, experiences that deepened her cultural and artistic perspective.
She has relocated to the greater Houston, Texas area, currently pursuing her MFA in Performance and Choreography at Sam Houston State University, Layla continues to expand her artistry through performing, teaching, and creating meaningful movement that connects body, mind, and culture.
